On January 20, 2025, President Trump issued a proclamation ending birthright citizenship in the United States. This is a great day for our country. Not to speak for anyone but myself, but personally I think the proclamation is good policy and good law on a proper reading of the Fourteenth Amendment. It should be welcomed by all patriots and constitutional originalists, and even by the critics, many of whom rightly point out that it gives the courts an opportunity block it. Let’s have the debate. As I’ve written elsewhere, I think the proclamation is fully compliant with the Constitution.
