PRIVACY POLICY
I. Who we are
Our website address is: https://deanclancy.com.
II. What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We do not track our visitors’ browsing history.
Cookies
When a visitor visits our site, we set a temporary cookie to determine if his or her browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when the visitor closes his or her browser.
Cookies help us recognize a visitor when he or she returns to our site. We delete this information after six months.
Comments
When a visitor leaves a comment on our site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. This option is offered for your convenience, so you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies expire after six months.
Some people use the Gravatar service as a convenience to provide their profile photo automatically when they leave a comment on a website. To determine whether a visitor is using Gravatar, we create an anonymized string from the visitor’s email address, called a hash, and may provide the hash to Gravatar to see if the visitor is using the service. The Gravatar privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After a visitor’s comment is approved, his or her profile picture becomes visible to the public in the context of the comment.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content, for example, videos, images, articles, and the like. Embedded content from other websites behaves just as it would if the visitor had visited the other website.
Note that these external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
III. How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
IV. What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
V. Where we send your data
For our own security, we filter visitor comments through an automated spam detection service.
VI. Who we share your data with
We do not share your data with anyone outside our organization, unless you have given us specific authorization to do so, for example, as part of a national petition campaign.
